Demi Wolters is South High's thirty-sixth, and final, Student of the Week for the 2018-2019 school year. Demi is a senior at South High with a 3.8 GPA and is the daughter to Jason and Joelle Wolters. At South High, Demi participates by being a Link Crew Leader and running Cross Country. In the community, Demi participates in Relay for Life and is a Love Chloe Run volunteer. Demi enjoys attending South High because of the variety of history classes that are available. Demi says that the history department has a very educated department. After graduation, Demi plans to attend Fort Hays State University to major in nursing. Congratulations, Demi!

Jordanna Daily is South High's thirty-fifth Student of the Week. Jordanna is a senior at South High with a 3.8 GPA and is the daughter to Natasha and Patrick Daily. At South High, Jordanna participates in HOSA, was a member of the swimming team all 4 years, and was a member of the bowling team for 2 years. In the community, Jordanna volunteers at the local hospital. Jordanna enjoys attending South High because of her favorite class: AP Chemistry. Jordanna says that AP Chemistry is challenging but fun at the same time and the coolest teacher teaches it (Mrs. Chamberlain). After graduating South High, Jordanna plans to attend the University of Nebraska -Lincoln and pursue a degree in biochemistry. Lastly, Jordanna says that she is a huge Chemistry nerd and loves the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Congratulations, Jordanna!

McKenzie Bullis is South High's thirty-fourth Student of the Week. McKenzie is a sophomore at South High with a 4.0 GPA and is the daughter to Shabella Gutierrez-McLean and Shane Bullis. At South High, McKenzie participates in the vocal club. McKenzie enjoys attending South High because of her favorite class: Biology. McKenzie says that Biology is her favorite class because she gets to learn about life and the makeup of the body. After graduating South High, McKenzie plans to attending Kansas University to pursue a nursing career. McKenzie's goal is to become a pediatric nurse. Lastly, McKenzie enjoys spending her time with family and friends. Congratulations, McKenzie!

Aum Patel is South High's thirty-third Student of the Week. Aum is a sophomore at South High with a 4.25 GPA and is the son to Mukesh and Shilpa Patel. At South High, Aum is a member of the swimming team, tennis team, Robotics, is a Science Olympiad and is on the Math Relays team. In the community, Aum volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters and he also participates in Swim to a Wish. At South High, Aum enjoys his computer programming class the most. He enjoys working with computers and knowing how to program is important for his future career. After graduating South High, Aum plans on attending either Stanford of Cal Tech in pursuit of a Computer Engineering degree. Lastly, Aum has a younger brother named Krish and Aum will be attending Fort Hays University to finish his Junior and Senior years of high school. Congratulations, Aum!

Lizbeth Guardado is South High's thirty-second Student of the Week. Lizbeth is a sophomore at South High and is the daughter to Sanjuana and Francisco Guardado. At South High, Lizbeth is active by being a member of the Scholars Bowl team and is a Writing Center Coach. In the community, Lizbeth helps teach Sunday School at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Lizbeth enjoys attending South High because Lizbeth believes that everyone has a sense of cougar pride. She also sees that everyone is very passionate in what they do. After graduating South High, Lizbeth plans to pursue a career in teaching. Congratulations, Lizbeth!

Kearra Alvarez is South High's thirty-first Student of the Week. Kearra is senior at South High with a 4.1 GPA and is the daughter to Shaun Alvarez. At Sough High, Kearra is a member of the design team for the Tripodium. Kearra is active in her community with her involvement wit Relay for Life in which she has been a member for the last 4 years. Kearra's favorite class at South High is Newspaper because of how creative she can be and her peers can see all her hard work when the Tripodium is released. After graduating South High, Kearra plans to attend the Hays Academy of Hair Design in Salina. Lastly, Kearra is a 4 year academic letterman. Congratulations, Kearra!

Khiley Davis is South High's thirtieth Student of the Week. Khiley is a senior at South High with a 3.87 GPA and is the daughter to Kay Souvannakily and Donald Davis. At South High, Khiley runs track in the spring, plays volleyball in the fall and is a member of NHS, HOSA, and the Kilt Krew. In the community, Khiley is active in Relay for Life. Khiley enjoys attending South High because of the mass student involvement and Cougar pride. She also likes learning new things! After graduating from South High, Khiley plans to continue her education and play college volleyball at the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, KS. She will also study pre-physical therapy. Lastly, Khiley enjoys playing with her dog, Juju, and going out to eat. Congratulations, Khiley!

South High's twenty-ninth Student of the Week is Lauren Raubenstine. Lauren is a junior at South High with a 4.0 GPA and is the daughter to Jim and Renae Raubenstine. At South High, Lauren is a member of the girls' basketball team, track and field, National Honor Society and is the yearbook editor. In the community, Lauren participates with Work at On The Pot, Youth Group at Church of the Cross and is a member of Relay for Life. Lauren enjoys attending South High because of her yearbook class with Mrs. Warren. Yearbook is class where Lauren gets to see many of her friends while creating a book that everyone will remember. Lastly, Lauren plans on going to college but is currently undecided in her choice of college. She would like to attend nursing school, as well. Congratulations, Lauren!

South High's twenty-eighth Student of the Week is Reese Altman. Reese is has 4.0 GPA, is a sophomore at South High and is the daughter to Amy Kahmeyer and Cory Altman. At South High, Reese is currently the Sophomore Class President for Stuco, a member of HOSA, BPA, Model UN, Math Relays and We Dine Together. Reese also plays softball and volleyball for South High. In the community, Reese is apart of the Beloit Blaze Softball team and was a 2018 Summer Volunteer at the Salina Regional Health Center. At school, Reese likes to constantly be challenged and always enjoys seeing all of her friends. Her favorite teachers are Mr. Poland and Mrs. Chamberlain (and her student teacher Mrs. Mann) because they challenge me and make their classes interesting. After graduating South High, Reese plans to pursue a medical degree but is undecided on where she will attend. Lastly, Reese enjoys eating ice cream and loves her black lab, Kya. South High's twenty-seventh Student of the Week is Daniela Garcia. Daniela is a senior at South High with a 4.1 GPA and is the daughter to Marcos & Martha Garcia. At South High, Daniela is a member of the Tripodium newspaper staff, a Stuco member, a Link Crew leader and has been an officer for the last 3 years for the South High Theatre and Drama Club. Daniela enjoys school the most because of her experiences with her newspaper class, taught by Mrs. Warren. She loves that she has ability to perform photography and videography for the student newspaper. As well, she loves capturing memories for the senior video that her class will look back on to show to their future generations. Lastly, after graduating South High, Daniela plans to attend the University of Kansas to pursue a degree in Biology. Congratulations, Daniela!

South High's twenty-sixth Student of the Week is Ivan Velo. Ivan is a senior at South High with a 3.8 GPA and is the son to Ibeth Castaneda and Jesus Hernandez. At South High, Ivan plays soccer for the cougars. Ivan also participates in Relay for Life, as a member. Ivan enjoys coming to South High because it gives him the chance to see his friends' every day and he enjoys the guidance he receives from his coaches, Mr. Crow and Mr. Maldonado. Ivan says that he would not be the person he is today if it was not for Mr. Crow and Mr. Maldonado. They have encouraged Ivan to be better every single day at practice and they have helped him become a leader on and off the field. After graduating South High, Ivan plans to attending college and play soccer but is undecided in where he will attend college. Ivan would like to pursue a degree in Biomedical Engineering or get a language degree and become a translator. Lastly, Ivan's hobbies including playing soccer with his friends and spending time with his family. Congratulations, Ivan!

At South High, Aleaha participates in Relay for Life and in the community, she is a member of the Feed My Starving Children and Salina Shares. Aleaha enjoys coming to school because of her favorite teacher, Mrs. Gates. Aleaha says that Mrs. Gates gives the best advice and always has something funny to say. After graduating South High, Aleaha plans to attend K-State to study psychology. Lastly, Aleaha lives with mom, dad, little sister and two wiener dogs: Sadie and Snoopy. Congratulations, Aleaha!

South High's twenty-fourth Student of the Week is Bryana Loisranoi. Bryana is a senior at South High with 3.79 GPA and is the daughter to Adriana Brown and Bobby Loisranoi. At South High, Bryana has participated in NHS, HOSA, the Salina South girls' soccer team and Salina South Track and Field. In the community, Bryana has helped package food through Feeding my Starving Children and she has participated in It's Okay to Be Different organization in support of her brother. Bryana enjoys attending South High due to the numerous staff members that have helped her achieve her goals every day. Bryana says that without the help of the South High staff members, high school would have been very tough for her. After high school, Bryana plans to attend Wichita State University and enroll in their dental hygiene program. Lastly, Bryana is the oldest of three siblings and she hopes that she can be a good example for them as they grow up. Congratulations, Bryana!

At South High, Jacqueline is a member of NHS, girls soccer, scholar bowl and Model UN. In the community, Jacqueline actively participates in SRL: Dog Rescue. Jacqueline enjoys coming to South High due to her chemistry class. Jacqueline says that Mrs. Chamberlain is super helpful explaining every concept and the labs are something she enjoys. South High's twenty-second Student of the Week is Hailey Simon. Hailey is a senior at South High who plays for the South High lady cougars basketball team. Hailey enjoys attending South High due to her experiences with being a special education tutor. Hailey says that this gives her valuable teaching experience. After graduating, Hailey plans to attend college but is undecided where she will attend. Hailey wants to be a future special education teacher so she will pursue an elementary education degree with a focus in special education. Congratulations, Hailey!

At South High, Spencer participates in football, swimming & diving, and golf. Spencer also is a member of the National Honor Society, at South High. Spencer enjoys his AP Chemistry class the most because it challenges him every single day. After graduating South High, Spencer plans to attend the University of Kansas to pursue a degree in Biomedical Chemistry. Lastly, Spencer has a twin brother named Eric and Spencer is a Rocketeer in Rocket League. Congratulations, Spencer!

South High's twentieth Student of the Week is Monique Sutherlin. Monique is a senior at South High with a 3.7 GPA and is the daughter to Donnalyn A. Rick & Corey Sutherlin. In the community, Monique participates in Salina Innovation and other community work. Monique enjoys attending South High because of the connections she makes with teachers by getting to know every one of them. Her favorite subject is AP Studio Art or AP Chemistry. She likes all of her teachers, especially Mrs. Chamberlain and Mrs. Moore. Both Mrs. Chamberlain and Mrs. Moore are very kind, helpful and amazing. As well, Monique thinks that both of the librarians, Mrs. Burke & Mrs. Gargis, are both really sweet and kind. After graduating high school, Monique is going to attend Wichita State University and major in chemistry. Lastly, Monique enjoys watching the true crimes movies/series and she loves bearded dragons & cats. Congratulations, Monique!

South High's nineteenth Student of the Week is Jacob Wilcox. Jacob is senior at South High with a 4.0 GPA and is the son to Corey & Brooke Wilcox. At South High, Jacob is the Band director's assistant, senior leader for the Robotics team, Link Crew leader, is a Kansas Honor Scholar and is a Medical Explorer. In the community, Jacob participates in the United Methodist Church of the Cross Youth Group and the Salina Municipal Law Enforcement Band, specifically the Command Band. Jacob enjoys his time at South High because of the joy that all the teachers at South High bring him. Jacob says that the teachers, at South, give him the confidence to challenge himself in academics. After graduation, Jacob plans to attend Bethany College and major in Biochemistry. Lastly, Jacob works at Eaglecrest Retirement Community, has a younger fifth-grade brother, Ethan, who attends Coronado and Jacob is a Certified Water Safety Instructor & Lifeguard at Kenwood Cover. At South High, Marissa is the Copy Editor for the school newspaper, The Tripodium, Yearbook Student Life Section Editor, National Honor Society Secretary, a member of the Drama Club and is a tutor for the Writing Center. In the community, Marissa participates in Relay for Life. Marissa enjoys attending South High because of the cool bonds she has formed with the teachers, over the years, especially with Mrs. Pittenger and Mrs. Warren. At South High, Alison is a member of HOSA and Alison participates in the medical internship class. In the community, Alison spends time volunteering for the Salina Regional Wealth Center. When Alison comes to school, her favorite part is seeing her friends. She enjoys her advanced English class the most because Ms. Moore makes the class fun and engaging. After high school, Alison plans to attend Wichita State University and enroll in their physician's assistant program. Lastly, Alison enjoys working out and taking dogs to the dog park. At school, Victor is the trumpet section leader for the band is and is a member of the golf team. In the community, Victor participates in the Salina Municipal Law Enforcement band. When at school, Victor enjoys going to his favorite class: band. Victor enjoys his band class because of Mr. Brooks. Victor says that Mr. Brooks makes the class fun and exciting with his great sense of humor all while being productive. After high school, Victor plans to attend Kansas State University to join The Pride of Wildcat Land marching band and pursue a major in Graphic Design. South High's thirteenth Student of the Week is Paul Armbrust. Paul is a senior at South High with a 3.8 GPA and is the son to Ginger and Andrew Armbrust. Paul participates in school activities by being a part of the varsity vocal group and being the captain of the swim team. In the community, Paul spends his time at Kenwood Cove being the head lifeguard. Paul is also a judge for the voice singing competition at opportunity now high school. Paul enjoys coming to South High because of the sport swimming. Swimming is something that Paul has done for the last 13 years of his life. Now, Paul and his teammates have the chance to win the AVCTL this year. Paul's favorite teacher is Dan "The Man' Cerny. After high school, Paul will possibly attend Wichita State University to pursue a nursing career, but is undecided now. South High's twelfth Student of the Week is Gretchen Cox. Gretchen is daughter to Shawn Cox, holds a 3.9 GPA and is a senior at South High. Gretchen participates in an assortment of activities such managing for the football team, being a part of the girls basketball team and being a member of the National Honor Society. Outside of school, Gretchen participates in Relay for Life. When Gretchen comes to South High she enjoys the social atmosphere. Gretchen says that everyone is friendly at South High. After graduating, Gretchen plans to go to college but she is undecided on which college she will choose. However, Gretchen does know that she wants to pursue an elementary education major with a minor in special education. Lastly, Gretchen has two cacti named Denise and Gerald. At South High, Madelyn enjoys spending her time with the band, as she has been a member of band all four years of high school. Madelyn really enjoys her Spanish class at South High because of her teacher: Ms. Adams. Madelyn thinks that Ms. Adams is a great teacher who is fun and extremely helpful. After graduating, Madelyn plans to attend Wichita State University, on a scholarship. She will pursue a degree in Psychology. Congratulations, Madelyn!

South High's tenth Student of the Week is Tyler Doherty. Tyler is a senior at South High with a 4.0 GPA and is the son to PJ & Melissa Doherty. At school, Tyler participates in National Honor Society, Kansas Honor Scholar, Youth Entrepreneurial Competition and is the Mentorship & Speech Pathology group leader. Tyler also participates in his community by being apart of the Junior Leadership of Salina and volunteering for the Great Plains Mfg community/employee events, the United Way and the Special Olympics. Tyler enjoys coming to South High because of his history classes. Tyler says that it is important to learn from the past. Tyler plans to attend Kansas Wesleyan University to pursue a dual major in accounting and history. Lastly, Tyler works the Eaglecrest Retirement Community and greatly enjoys spending time with all of the residents. Congratulations, Tyler!

South High's ninth student of the week is Tylyn Samreth. Tylyn holds a 3.80 GPA and is a senior this year at South. Ty is the daughter to Linda Nguyen & Savoeun Samreth. Ty participates in a couple of school activities including NHS and HOSA. Ty enjoys her time at school due to her favorite class: English. She enjoys English because you can fully express yourself while having fun. After graduating, Ty plans to attend Wichita State University. Ty would like to pursue a degree in the dental field. South High's eight student of the week is Andrew Davis. Andrew is a senior at South High with a 3.53 GPA. Andrew is the son to Craig and Yvonae Davis. At South High, Andrew is highly dedicated to being a part of band and being a drum major. Continuing with his love for band, Andrew says that is his favorite class. His teacher, Mr. Brooks, makes is entertaining. Band has been in Andrew's life since 5th grade and will continue to be in his life for a very long time. Andrew plans to attend Kansas State University to pursue a degree in Computer Science. While at K-State, Andrew plans to join the K-State Marching band. Lastly, Andrew has two dogs at home and his brother is a marine. Congratulations, Andrew!

South High's seventh student of the week is Grace Hoge. Grace is a senior at South High with a 4.02 GPA. She is the daughter to Susan Hoge. At South High, Grace participates in cheerleading, NHS and has been the co-editor of the Tripodium (the school newspaper) for 2 years. In her community, Grace volunteers at Salina Regional in the summer, participates in BBBS, and works as a Nurse Assistant at Salina Regional Health Center, too. While at South High, Grace enjoys going to school because of the relationships she has formed with her teachers. She loves AP Chemistry and Mrs. Chamberlain, as well. After graduating, Grace plans to attend the University of Kansas to major in Nursing and minor in News and Information Journalism. Grace's lifelong goal is to become an APRN and work in surgery. South High's sixth student of the week is Brandon Rectenwald. Brandon is senior at South High with a 3.7 GPA and is the son to Nancy & Michael Rectenwald. At South High, Brandon participates in cross-country, track, and orchestra. In the community, Brandon spends time with the Salina Youth Symphony. Brandon enjoys coming to school because of his history classes. He likes how his history classes discuss how society develops over time and compares the present to the past. Lastly, Brandon is currently looking at attending the University of Kansas after graduating. Brandon plans to pursue a degree in biological sciences. Congratulations, Brandon!

South High's fifth student of the week is Tatum Forrester. Tatum is a senior at South with a 4.0 GPA and is the daughter to Paul & Sheila Forrester. Tatum participates in a couple school activities including golf and softball. Tatum is a member of the National Honor Society (NHS), Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) and she is a medical intern, as well. Tatum enjoys South High because of the environment. Tatum says that the teachers are polite and they make it a priority to know their students. She especially likes that teachers will smile and say hi, to any student in the hallways, even if they don't have that student in class. After high school, Tatum plans to attend Kansas State University to pursue a degree in Architecture and Interior Design. Lastly, Tatum enjoys spending time with her family and watching sports. South High's fourth student of the week is Parker Renz. Parker is a senior at South High with a 3.5 GPA and is the son to Sandi and Charles Renz. Parker is involved in numerous school activities, which include being part of the golf team, stat tracking for the basketball team and being a participant in the Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge. Parker has qualified for state, in golf, three times and was selected as a Second Team All State. Outside of school, Parker has continued his success in golf by qualifying for the Kansas Amateur Golf Championship, participating in the First Tee, coaching for the First Tee and, this fall, Parker will play in the Pure Insurance Championship at pebble beach. Besides golf, Parker also has participated in Relay for Life. Parker enjoys his time at South, as a student, because of the fun and supportive teachers like Mr. Harris, Mr. Stuart and Mr. Carlson. Parker plans to attend college to continue his golf career but is undecided on where he would like to go. Lastly, Parker has one brother, Lucas Renz, who is currently in law school and Parker has two dogs at home. Congratulations, Parker!

Seth participates in a couple school activities including being the swimming team's co-captain and being a mathlete. Seth continues his involvement by also being a Relay for Life committee member and being the Stuco Vice President. Seth enjoys school because of the great atmosphere that the teachers provide at South High (and they make homework manageable). Seth's favorite subject is calculus. After graduating, Seth plans to attend Washburn University and pursue an accounting degree. Lastly, Seth can play the guitar, piano and trumpet; he also has traveled to 26 different states. South High's second student of the week is Bailey Weber. Bailey is the daughter of Thresia and Greg Weber. Bailey is a junior at South High and participates in both softball and basketball. In the community, Bailey participates in the Catholic Youth Organization, also known as CYO. Bailey enjoys coming to school to see her friends and especially enjoys her favorite class, AP US History. She enjoys US History because of her love for History and her teacher, Mr. Harris, who she thinks is a humorous person. After high school, Bailey has decided she wants to go to college but has not decided which college. She will pursue a degree in child psychiatry. Congratulations, Bailey!

South High's first student of the week is Angelica Carrillo Hernandez. Angelica's parents are Angelic Hernandez and Rodrigo Jaime. Angelica is a Senior at South High. She is a Link Leader who also studies CNA at Central High. In her spare time, Angelica will volunteer at her brother's school, Coronado Elementary School, to help with activities. Angelica loves school! Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Hurley because Mrs. Hurley taught her English. English is also Angelica's favorite subject. After graduating from South High, Angelica plans to pursue a post-secondary CNA certificate along with going to college to receive a Psychology degree. Lastly, Angelica enjoys watching football games and is proud to be an ESL student. Congratulations, Angelica!
