South High School’s Student of the Week is junior Chana Wolfe. Chana is the daughter of Michele and Rick Wolfe and sister to Lantis Wolfe. At South High, Chana is a member of the Cougar Volleyball and Softball teams. She loves how South High makes you feel at home and the teachers are always quick to act when help is needed. Outside of school, Chana plays on the Heat traveling softball team and volunteers at Shiloh Ranch. She and her family love to go camping in their free time outside of the softball field. After graduation, Chana plans to play softball in college while studying to become an equine veterinarian. Congratulations, Chana!

South High School’s Student of the Week is junior Rylan Humphrey. Rylan is the son of Amy Lauer and Lauren Humphrey and brother to Jace Humphrey. At South High, Rylan has been involved in the Cougar Band and in Debate and Forensics. He like that his teachers will show him their support and enjoys his art classes and being in the band. Rylan is an Aquarius and enjoys art and music outside of school. After graduation, he plans to take a year off, move to Colorado, and establish residency with the aim of then attending school for art and design and becoming a tattoo artist. Congratulations, Rylan!

South High School’s Student of the Week is senior Adeline Ollenberger. Adeline is the daughter of Melissa and Alan Mall, and sister to David Ollenberger and Amelia Mall. At South High, Adeline is involved with Cheerleading, Band, National Honor Society, School Musicals, and One Act Plays. She especially loves her chemistry classes because of the wonderful teachers. Outside of school, Adeline has two cats, is a Salina Regional Health Center volunteer, and works at Pet Life and Tucson’s Steakhouse. South High School’s Student of the Week is senior Owen Bulleigh. Owen is the son of Tim and Tina Bulleigh and brother to Colby and Jake Bulleigh. At South High, Owen was a captain on the Cougar Football Team and is a member of the Cougar Baseball Team. He also is a big fan of the school’s soy butter PB&J sandwiches. Outside of school, Owen is involved with Relay for Life and considers himself probably the greatest disc golfer and fisherman in Kansas. After graduation, he plans to attend Manhattan Area Technical College to earn an Associate’s Degree in Electric Power & Distribution. Congratulations, Owen!

South High School’s Student of the Week is senior Diana Geist. Diana is the daughter of Jeff and Brenda Geist and sister to Kaitlyn Geist. At South High, Diana has been a member of the Peppers Dance Team, National Honor Society, the Science Olympiad, and the Theater and Drama Club as a stage manager, cast member, and director. Her favorite part of high school has been the understanding of her teachers who see the whole student and are there to listen and empathize, especially Mr. Massey and Mrs. Meyer. Outside of school, she has a cat named Harley and is involved with Tamara Howe School of Dance, Girl Scouts, and her church youth group. His favorite class has been Engineering, where he has enjoyed learning and using the CAD software. At South High, Kyle is a member of Cougar Swim Team. He enjoys most being with his friends and being a part of the swim team at school. Outside of school, Kyle has worked at Family Animal Care and Ashley Home Store, volunteered at the Rolling Hills Zoo and in a local elementary classroom, and enjoys fishing, swimming, and kayaking in his free time. At South High, Kaydence is involved with Drama Club, New Dawn, and Link Crew. She likes participating in all of the different activities provided by the school, and is thankful for teachers accommodating and understanding her busy schedule. Outside of school, Kaydence is involved with Meals on Wheels, and loves volunteering at the Salina Community Theater. At South High, she is a Debate & Forensics officer and co-president, the Politics Club secretary, and a member of National Honor Society. Her favorite things about high school have been learning new material that has genuinely interested her, especially chemistry, and all of the work she has put into debate & forensics. Outside of school, Maya is a student volunteer on the Salina Arts & Humanities Commission, and a volunteer at Rolling Hills Zoo. He is also a part of Junior Leadership Salina and Relay for Life. Keegan’s favorite part of school is going to swim practice and getting to see Coach Brochtrup and the rest of the team. At South High, she is the Student Council Chairperson of Activities, Tripodium Editor, Yearbook Editor, National Honor Society Treasurer, and is a member of the Cougar Tennis, Basketball, and Soccer teams. Lizzy has also been the event lead for Relay for Life. Her favorite part of school has been working on yearbooks, as she gets to put together a whole year into one book for students to look back upon. When she is not in school, Lizzy can be found working at Tucson’s Steakhouse or playing with her dog Oso. South High School’s Student of the Week is senior Joselin Cuevas. Joselin is the daughter of Alvaro and Nohemi Cuevas, and sister to Karen Cuevas. She also has two adorable dogs, a yorkie and a poodle mix, named Charlie and Brownie. At South High, she is an orchestra member, a Book Club member, and does important work as an ESL translator. Joselin says her teachers are awesome and are always willing to help and give great advice. Outside of school, she serves as a regular pioneer and does volunteer work as a Jehovah’s Witness. At South High, he has been a member of the soccer team and has been named a team captain. He loves playing soccer as a way to compete and have fun with his friends. Nik is thankful he is able to attend school every day to joke around with his friends, while also getting schoolwork done. At South High, she is a member of National Honor Society, FCA, and FCCLA, along with playing tennis and soccer. Alexxa loves going to school because of the positive environment at South High, and has truly loved her tennis team and how the game has brought her so many close friendships. He is a member of both the South High basketball and baseball teams. Kade is active outside of school in his youth group and with Fresenius Dialysis Transportation. He also spends his time hanging out with friends and going to the gym. His favorite class in high school has been math with Mr. Ballenger, because he makes class fun and genuinely cares for students. South High School’s Student of the Week is junior Grace Allen. Grace is the daughter of Jessica and Matt Allen and sister to Emily, Katie, and Olivia Allen. She is a member of both the South High Cross Country and Track teams, along with serving as South High Student Council junior class secretary. Grace particularly enjoys the social aspect of school, getting to see her friends and teachers every day. Outside of school, she volunteers with the Love, Chloe Foundation, works at YaYa’s Euro Bistro as a hostess and server assistant, and spends time with her family’s two dogs and pet cat. After graduation, Grace plans to study kinesiology en route to becoming an occupational therapist.

South High School’s Student of the Week is senior Yaritza Vega. Yaritza is the daughter of Elizabeth and Homero Vega and sister to Eduardo and Ricardo Vega. She is the South High Peppers Dance Team senior officer, the Cougar Twirlers section leader, a Link Crew leader, and a member of National Honor Society, the South High Writing Center, and South High Orchestra. Yaritza has been a National and Senior competitor with Shannon’s Stars Twirling Club, and is a Sacred Heart Cathedral volunteer. She enjoys being involved in all of her extracurricular activities, and loves her dog Snowy. She appreciates all of her teachers who have made this school year delightful.
