Student of the Week
Week 5
Danny Tso
Danny is a senior at South High School who is involved in student council, math relays and scholars bowl. Danny loves all of his teachers; he believes they are all very caring, understanding and loving. Outside of school Danny helps out with his family's business, The Great Wall. After graduation Danny plans on attending a four-year university. Some fun facts about Danny are that he is interested in math and physics and he plays the violin.
Week 4
Bethany Hicklin
Bethany is a senior at South High School. Bethany is a cheerleader, a member of the track & field team, in National Honor Society, involved in FCA and HOSA. Bethany loves Math and her AP Chemistry class this year. Her favorite teacher is Ms. Mann as she makes class enjoyable and engaging. Outside of school Bethany works as a CNA. She is also an active member of her church, where she works in the nursery and participates in youth group. In her free time, Bethany pole vaults and enjoys arts & crafts such as painting. Bethany plans to attend the University of Kansas and major in chemistry; afterward she plans on attending medical school. A fun fact about Bethany is that she has a Dachshund named Stella and an English Mastiff named Shadow.
Week 3
Sadie Xaysongkham
Sadie is a senior at South High School. She appreciates all of the conditioning and P.E. teachers for their dedication and genuine care in getting to know their students and engaging them in class. At school, Sadie is involved in the National Honor Society, FCA, Relay for Life, plays softball and volleyball and shows her school spirit in the Kilt Krew. Outside of school, Sadie is involved with kids' ministry at her church, is a babysitter and dog sitter, likes spending time with her family and friends and plays softball. After graduation, she will attend Fort Hays State University and study radiology. A fun fact about Sadie is that she loves doing her own and her friends' nails.
Week 2
Luke Matto
Luke is a senior at South High School. Luke’s favorite part about school is the positivity that is built within the school by the teachers, staff members and his classmates. He feels that the culture at Salina South shines brightly and has a strong sense of community. Luke is a member of the student council and the soccer team. Outside of school Luke spends his free time playing soccer, volunteering within the community, hanging out with his friends and family and going shopping for clothes. His plans after graduation include attending college and studying computer administrations or computer telecommunications, as well as continuing his soccer career. Some fun facts about Luke are that he
has seven dogs and three cats. He was also named on the 1st team 5A all-state soccer team in 2023 and named as a top 25 returning player to watch in 5A Kansas Soccer for the 2024 season.
Week 1
Natalie Brenneman
Natalie is a senior at South High School. Natalie is involved in National Honor Society, HOSA, Student Council, FCA, Band, Swimming and Tennis. Her favorite class this semester is cabinet making as it’s something totally new to her, but she also enjoys being a teacher aid for Ms. Mann. Outside of school Natalie is involved with her church, student ministry and working as a lifeguard and swim instructor. In her free time Natalie enjoys cheering on K-State Athletics and baking. Natalie’s plans after graduation are to attend Kansas State University and study social work/counseling.
