FAQ:

What are the GPA requirements to apply for membership in National Honor Society?
Second semester juniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher may request membership in the National Honor Society.

How does one apply for membership into National Honor Society?
Students with the minimum GPA requirement will be notified early in the Spring Semester. At that time, they will be given instructions to complete a candidate packet with a detailed academic resume and narrative essay. Candidate packets together with school discipline and attendance records and feedback from all South High teachers and staff are reviewed and scored by the Faculty Council based on the four tenets of the National Honor Society: Scholarship, Citizenship, Leadership, and Service. Students whose candidate packets demonstrate outstanding achievements in these four areas are invited to join the chapter.

What are the expectations of members?
Members are expected to maintain the academic and personal attributes which qualified them for membership. They are also expected to attend monthly meetings and to participate in NHS activities and fundraisers. In addition, members who would like to wear an honor stole at graduation must submit proof of either ten volunteer hours which have not already been submitted for pathway completion or of active participation in two NHS service activities before April 1st of their senior year.
