KSU EXCITE Shadow Days
High school students are invited to come experience a day in the life of a K-State student! Each participant will be paired with a current K-State student who shares similar interests in science, technology, engineering, or math. Together they will attend class, tour campus, share lunch, and discuss what it's like to be in a STEM major at K-State.  Visit EXCITE Shadow Days for more information and to register.

Dual Credit Opportunities for Sophomores and Juniors - Salina Area Technical College
Salina Area Technical College has articulation agreements in place with several area high schools. This enables students to earn college credit while still in high school. See your counselor for more information or visit Salina Tech's website. To apply for admission to Salina Tech, go to their Application page.

JFK Profile in Courage Essay Contest
It's that time of year again!  As you begin the new school year, we are excited to announce that our Profile in Courage Essay Contest is now accepting submissions.  The top 25 students receive recognition and the winning prize is $10,000.  The deadline for submissions is January 17, 2020.  Visit Profile in Courage Essay Contest to get started.

K-State Black Leadership Conference
The K-State Black Leadership Conference will be held on February 11, 2020 at the K-State Union in Manhattan, KS. If you are interested in attending, you must sign up in the counseling center.   The registration deadline is November 13, 2019.  Please see Ms. Smith if you have any questions.

Better Business Bureau High School Video Contest
This competition provides an opportunity for all high school students who reside in the Kansas Plains (all counties in Kansas except: Franklin, Johnson, Leavenworth, Linn, Miami and Wyandotte) to creatively learn the values of BBB - trust, honesty, reliability and objectiveness – helping them discover how these ideals can be applied in their everyday lives. Contestants will gain valuable marketing experience because they are also challenged to get the most views on the contest’s website by promoting their video that will be posted on  Students may enter individually or form teams of two to four people. First and second place prizes will be awarded. Five hundred dollars cash will be given to the creator(s) of the winning video, and a $2,000 donation of video equipment will be given to their school. In addition, $250 cash will be awarded to the second place video, and $1,000 for video equipment will be given to their school. Winners will be determined by how well the entry adheres to BBB’s brand, expresses the theme "Start With Trust” or “Ask BBB,” the quality of the video’s production, and how many times it’s been viewed on  BBB will accept entries from Monday, February 3, 2020 – Friday, February 28, 2020.
